My Parents Visit to Okinawa

The week after Sean's parents came to visit, we had another set of visitors!
MY PARENTS!
Boy, oh boy did I miss them!
I could hardly wait to pick them up from the airport.
Grammy and Grandpa meeting Barrett for the first time!

If you know my parents, you know they LOVE the beach. So while they were here, we rented a beach house in Okuma!

While we were up North, my parents and I took a quick little day trip to a very wonderful tourist trap - Pineapple Park. Pineapples everywhere!!

After having a great few days at the beach house, we made our way back down to Chatan to do some sight seeing down in Naha. We made a trip to Okinawa World! They had too much fun while visiting this place.

We also made a trip to Cape Zanpa and Nakagusuku Castle ruins.

I am so thankful that my parents made the long trip out here to visit us. We got to explore so many different places on Okinawa. I sure do wish they could have stayed a little bit longer! Can't wait to see you guys again, we miss and love you so much!

Sean's Parents Come to Visit

After almost 2 years of being in Okinawa, we finally had visitors! We were so excited to see Sean's parents and for them to meet our little Barrett.

Even though it rained most of the time they were visiting, we were able to go on a few adventures and show them the island.

 Such a proud Papa!

Sean's parents experiencing how completely obsessed Okinawans are with little babies.

Our first big outing with Barrett was to the Aquarium

Sean's mom already teaching Barrett! <3

We finally got a semi-sunny day, and took advantage of it! We took Sean's parents to Shuri Castle! Shuri Caslte is a Ryukyuan Castle and was the palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom. However, during World War II it was taken by the Americans, in the Battle of Okinawa, and was almost completely destroyed. In 1992, the main building was reconstructed and is now designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Quite possibly one of my favorite pictures of Sean - Proud dad or Peter Pan?

While we were at Shuri Castle we went to a Traditional Tea Ceremony. We loved it! If you live in Okinawa, and have babies, you know how completely in love Okinawans are with the little ones. This lovely Okinawan almost didn't give Barrett back!

Our week with Sean's parents went by way too fast! We loved spending time with them and showing them around Okinawa. It really made us miss home. We are so thankful they made the long trek out here to see our little bub. We love you guys!

Barrett's Wild Nursery

Growing up, my favorite children's book has always been "Where the Wild Things Are". So when we found out we were having a little boy, I immediately jumped at the theme. Thankfully, Sean thought it was a great idea!
Unfortunately, living in Japan, we do not have crafty stores like Michaels, Joannes, or even a dang target to get cute nursery stuff. On base housing doesn't exactly provide us with a roomy nursery either. With that being said, we had to improvise on the decorating.

One of our best friends back home, Nikki, had these water color paintings done for us! She also sewed that cute little monster sitting in Barrett's rocking chair. We love you Nikki Smash!

Hope you love Bear's room just as much as we do!
