Melody Road and the British Wine and Tea shop

I love the wonders of Okinawa.
One of the most unique wonders of this island is Melody Road.

This road is up north in Nago City. If you drive a little over 40 km/h, the grooves in the road play an Okinawan love song called "Futami Jowa".

What I love about this road is the story. Apparently, it is about a man and a woman who sing of being married and being together forever. But because of the war, the two Okinawans were forced to leave their home and relocate to Futami.

After visiting this amazing road. We ventured over to a little place called
The British Wine and Tea Shop.

We met the real life "Mad Hatter". He was the most interesting person I have ever met.
If you have not been to this place you should really check it out.
The food was literally homemade and DELICIOUS.

The Scones were seriously to die for. They melted in your mouth!

Biker Gang Initiation Night - Girls only!

The best thing about living near the water is that we can ride our bikes where ever we want!
A bunch of us girls LOVE to ride our bikes - so we formed a biker gang (Bicycle Gang, of course).

Built with the classic beach cruisers, biker names, baskets, water guns, fanny packs, and bells (CHING,CHING!)

Black Mamba and Carlita showing off our guns!

It is always nice to go out and have some girl time with my favorite Marine spouses.

Stand Up Paddle board Yoga

A few of us girls decided that we would try a little Stand Up Paddle board Yoga.
It was so fun!

My friend Erin and I went out to Kadena Marina early to just paddle board in the beautiful water.

If you have never paddle boarded before, you should definitely try it! It is such a great workout and you get to be on the water.

Sorry for such a blurry picture!

And thanks again Erin, for some of these awesome pictures.

Birthday Adventure! July 2013

For my birthday, Sean and I packed lunches, loaded the dogs in the car, and drove up north!
We had no clue where we were going,
but it was such an adventure.

We wanted to find a secluded beach so that our furbabies could run freely!
We ended up driving all the way to Hedo!

We drove up a beautiful winding road and found this beach!
The dogs absolutely loved it, and ran wild

We got a family picture! Unfortunately, our boys weren't looking at the camera!

The Fourth of July Weekend fun!

The Fourth of July was a blast!

Torii Beach has a weekend long festival with live music and fireworks - so we joined in on the fun!

We had such a great group of friends with us to celebrate the 4th of July

The night ended with some awesome fireworks on the beach!

But the celebrating wasn't over! The Chatan Sea Port Festival was the same weekend!
Luckily, it is right across from our base, so we met up with some friends and walked over the the beach!

After the Sea Port Festival, we had a barbecue for my birthday!
Along with some sparkler fun.

We had the best time celebrating the fourth of July in Japan!

Onna Lagoon 2.

In one of my previous posts, I shared about the Onna Lagoon.
We loved it so much we went back! And this time Erin and I brought Sean and two of our other friends.

We grilled out and snorkeled around this beautiful place!

MMmmm. Cheeseburgers in paradise.

We saw so many fish!! Next plan - diving this place!

Gryffin - June 2013

We got an early birthday present!!

Baby Gryffin!

We saw him on Okinawa Yard Sale - a couple had found him as a stray and couldn't keep him. So we took Roku to meet him and they were instant best friends.

We are just over the top in love with these cute little fur babies. Roku has been such a good big brother, and takes care of our little Gryffin.

We are almost convinced Gryffin doesn't know we exist because he is constantly following, playing, and snuggling his big brother, Roku.

My favorite spot on this island was found, all thanks to our neighbor Joe.
He gave my friends, Erin and Aimee, and I directions to a "pretty lagoon"in Onna, and we were determined to find it.

We set off one morning to eat at a beautiful place called Do ka Do ka.
The view, and the pizza, are what makes this place amazing.

After lunch, we drove around for what seemed like an hour trying to find the lagoon. Just as we were about to give up we found a turn we remembered Joe talking about. We turned down the road and ended up in fields, in the middle of no where.

BUT WE FOUND IT!

Apparently, it is a great dive spot because some divers were putting on their gear and we asked them if this was the Onna Lagoon.. and sure enough it was just beyond this Habu Alley.

This may not look like a big cave - but inside was big enough for all of us to float and swim in during high tide.

Thank you Joe for giving us the directions to this Okinawa wonder!
And Erin for some of these fun pictures I totally stole from you ;]
